We have received this lovely news from Szentendre and wanted to share it with you, as Jolanda is very well known to many of us. Imre writes:
It is a real pleasure for me to inform you that yesterday, on the occasion of August 20, the National Day of Hungary, Jolanda Willemse, the President of the Association of Szentendre’s International Relations was awarded the highest recognition of the City of Szentendre for her long standing, fruitful and tireless activity for promoting, encouraging and supporting the international co-operation of Szentendre with its foreign twinning partners. She was given the title of Honorary Citizen of Szentendre.
The award conferred to her upon the unanimous decision of the Municipal Council was handed over to Jolanda yesterday by the Mayor at the local festive ceremony held on the occasion of August 20, the National Day of Hungary.
I am convinced that Jolanda definitely has deserved this important award as she has dedicated her life for more then 15 years not only to guiding the civil association in its activity with foreign twinning partners but she has always been the first and showing example in how to take forward successfully the important cause of the international twinning in Szentendre and naturally beyond Szentendre’s and Hungary’s borders.
