On a recent trip to Budapest, Godmanchester author Roger Leivers, and his wife Michele had the honour of meeting the Deputy Mayor, Judit Magyar, of Huntingdon and Godmanchester’s twin town, Szentendre. He presented her with a copy of each of his three books covering the towns amazing wartime history. Also there were Yolanda, who acted as an interpreter, and Judit who also works with the twinning group.
He was able to go through the books briefly and explain how the war affected Godmanchester, and in turn Judit was able to tell them about how her family and how their town had been affected by the conflict. Evidently Judit is very keen to have a walk around Godmanchester when she arrives later this year.
